marshall arts

Marshall arts are a primitive form of backwoods fighting techniques taught in rural areas where programs teaching more sophisticated and traditional forms of combat (karate, kung fu, judo) are unavailable or limited.
Marshall arts are considered neither an art nor a science. This form of fighting often uses elements of boxing, wrasslin', and Asian martial arts, though those elements are often misunderstood and used improperly. The styles and techniques of marshall arts vary greatly by location, as they are taught by persons with no formal training in any form of fighting.
Marshall arts have been used successfully in bar fights and other unstructured situations against unskilled opponents; however, they are highly ineffective when put into action against opponents trained in traditional fighting techniques.
It is believed that the term "marshall arts" originated years ago when a man named Marshall opened a "dojo" called Marshall Arts to "teach fightin' to youngins"; however, marshall arts may be taught by persons of any name.

I don't think you should be puttin' yer boy in classes at Terry Don's Dojo - they don't teach nothin' but marshall arts there. You should let him learn korrawdees at The Flying Dragon.
