Houston Texans and Texas A&M Confusion

For whatever reason, a number of country folk can't seem to get the names of the Houston Texans and the Texas A&M Aggies straight. We hear the same mistakes over and over when these two teams are discussed.

The Houston Texans are referred to simply as "Texas".

Do you think Texas is gon' be able to beat New England this weekend? That ole Tom Brady is purdy tough.

And Texas A&M? Well, that's Texan A&M, according to many country folk.

Did you see them boys from Texan A&M in the Cotton Bowl? They looked awful good, and they got that quarterback for at least another two years.

It's not like this is an isolated incident. We hear it over and over and over. What has led to the confusion? Whatever it is, don't even bother trying to correct anyone who does this. No matter how many times you try, they always revert back to calling these teams their own made up, country-afied names.
