spelling out words that appear foreign or unusual

>> Monday, April 8, 2013

Many of the posts on this site show instances where country folk mispronounce words in funny ways. However, there are times when they encounter a long/foreign/unusual word that is so daunting for their country twang that they don't even attempt to pronounce it. Instead, they concede defeat and simply spell the word.

Example:

Cashier: Welcome to Wendy's. What can I get for you?
Customer: Yeah, I think I'll try that combo number 8 - that A-S-I-A-G-O ranch chicken sandwich, howevah you say it.
